I love my DSLR camera, there is no denying that. However, the one downfall for having such a big camera is trying to carry it around with you. I sometimes feel that I need to prepare in advance what bag I’m bringing it in whether it’s going to be somewhat protected in said bag. And then, whilst I’m out, there is the odd occasion in which the bag containing one of your prized possessions can accidentally knock into a wall or table whilst you’re on the go. On the way to class I saw the horse guards parading outside the Cathedral Notre-Dame; Attending the Saint Louis and the Arts conference at the Louvre this Saturday; it’s officially Christmas outside the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Spending a lovely Sunday evening in front of the fire at home; Before entering the ‘Medieval Morocco: An Empire from Africa to Spain’ exhibition at the Louvre one encounters a beautiful Grand Chandelier originally from Fez, Morocco; A current work of art by Claude Lévêque within the Louvre, a neon installation piece striking the top of the pyramid. This week the Micro-Architecture conference took place at the Auditorium de la Galerie Colbert; The Louvre’s Pyramid looking stunning on the night of the Saint Louis and the Arts Conference; Pont de l’Archevêché showcasing it’s collection of locks gained throughout the years with the Cathedral Notre-Dame gazing in the back.

Watching the Christmas Tree go up in front of Notre Dame Cathedral; A visit to the see the upside down Christmas Tree at Galeries Lafayette; Sublime views of Paris from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Pretending to be children again by visiting one Paris’ Aquariums, we made a new friend in a clown fish; Taking in the breathtaking views at the top of the Arc de Triomphe; The Opera National de Paris during the verge of twilight with a massive crowd listening to local musicians. Watching the sunset whilst exploring the Jardin des Tuileries with some lovely friends; Just one of the many amazing views of the River Seine that I see on my walks to school when on the Pont au Double; I enjoyed a lovely visit to the used book Cafe, Merci. Merci offers not only wonderful drinks, but the chance to pursue the various books adorning the shelves.

Madrid for the Weekend

It has been brought to my attention that I may look like I am addicted to traveling. From my recent trips to New York, Liverpool and London; to the ultimate trip of my life thus far to Paris; this weekend seems to just emphasise that I may indeed have a ‘problem’. I, Roisin, am addicted to travelling. This weekend I flew across the country, and landed in beautiful Madrid to visit my boyfriend who is currently an Au Pair there. Sadly I could only stay for two nights, and thus didn’t get to see the whole of Madrid. This means that I’ll definitely have to come back again – what a hard life! Salut everyone! So sorry that it seems to have taken almost a decade for me to write a new blog post. As you can imagine, this week has been very busy meaning that my time has been limited. I am currently back in Paris, and have been home (where I call home now) for the last week. After New York, I headed down to London to attend a conference (which I am also in en train de writing – some present progessif for you) and arrived in Paris on Sunday. Unfortunately I had the train journey from hell from the Airport to the house, taking me nearly 3 hours to get home! Normally it only takes an hour, so you can probably understand my frustration. Basically, the trains decided that they would not continue to my stop, despite leaving me stranded at the station just before mine. And to make it worse, it was raining cats and dogs, so you can imagine that along with two heavy suitcases, the last thing I wanted to do was …

Sadly I am not free to celebrate Halloween this year, although I haven’t actually celebrated it properly since being a child. So in the spirit, no pun intended, I thought it would be cool to share some photos that I took whilst in New York. Whilst there, it was clear how seriously most Americans take the newly established holiday seriously. Many shops and houses were adorned with Halloween decorations, and it was surreal to experience this as the UK doesn’t really celebrate it on the same level. So behold, some Halloween photos! The first three photographs were taken from probably the best display we saw during our time in New York, and probably are overall within the city. The house in Brooklyn which displayed its magnificent Halloween exhibition has previous form, and such decorations have even been seen around the internet and on the TV!
